Being on an American Cancer Society Bark For Life team is an amazing experience, and this year my dogs and I have made a commitment to fight against cancer by taking part in the American Cancer Society Bark For Life.
Bark For Life is a dog walk event that gives dog owners (and the dogs that love them!) an opportunity to come together to raise funds to help the American Cancer Society save lives and create a world with less cancer and more birthdays.
At the event, we'll walk with our dogs and people from around the community as a unified force in the fight against cancer. After the walk, there will be other fun things such as demonstrations, food, and games. *** Please note: you don’t have to have one of our dogs or even a dog at all to join our team. All that is required is your desire to help the American Cancer Society save lives.
The walk is Sunday May 6, 2012 at Rockland Community College. Start time is 9am rain or shine. This will be my 17th year doing the Bark For Life walk. This is the one and only time of the year that I will ever ask for your help. If you have any questions please feel free to call me: 845-224-9170.
I know that you care about finding an end to cancer, so if you would like to join me and my dogs at Bark For Life, please visit my personal page. Here you can join my team, or if you are not able to attend, you can help by making an online donation.
Whether it is through a friend, family member, the neighbor down the street, or our own personal experience, we have all been touched by cancer in some way. So please consider joining my team.
Together, we have the power to help create a world where cancer can no longer claim another year of anyone's life.
PLEASE SHARE WITH YOUR FRIENDS & FAMILY. ALL ARE WELCOME.
Thank you in advance.

I want to thank Team Highlander German Shepherds and all of the wonderful people that supported us! Great job fundraising for such an important cause! We had a wonderful time on a beautiful day with great friends, human as well as our extraordinary German Shepherds! Out of all of the teams, we made the top 5 for the amount of money that we raised! Together the Bark For Life Bear Mountain participants and those who sponsored us raised over $50,000 towards finding a cure! Thank you again and please join us at the walk in 2011. Alisia

By supporting Bark For Life YOU can help the American Cancer Society move closer to the ultimate goal: A CURE FOR CANCER !
*I have been dedicated to walking at the Bear Mountain Bark For Life since 1998! Bark For Life has been a personal opportunity to help create a world with less cancer, more birthdays, and to support the effort to find a cure for cancer! Every year there are over 800 dogs and their families having a wonderful time supporting the American Cancer Society. Bark For Life is a lot of fun for everyone. There are numerous K9 demonstrations such as agility, police dogs, fly ball, etc. Entertaining contests that you can watch and/or participate, vendors, a professional photographer to take a family and/or portrait of your pooch, and a complimentary doggy bag filled with goodies for your best friend are all part of the day at Bark For Life. Bear Mountain is very scenic and beautiful.
It's amazing to think that approximately 1.5 million people will be diagnosed with cancer this year. Somebody close to us may be one of them.
By taking part in or supporting our Bark For Life team, you are helping the American Cancer Society save lives by:
- Helping people stay well by helping them take steps to prevent cancer or detect it early, when it is most treatable
- Helping people get well by being in their corner around the clock to guide them through every step of their cancer experience
- Finding cures by funding groundbreaking research that helps us understand cancer's causes, determine how best to prevent it, and discover new ways to cure it!
- Fighting back by working with law makers to pass laws to defeat cancer and by rallying communities worldwide to join the fight
Please support our efforts by making a donation to our campaign, or by joining my Bark For Life team. Together we have the power to help create a world where cancer can no longer claim another moment of anyone's life!
