Dogs Walk For Cancer

Rockland Community College - Suffern, New York

Red Dog

Take a bite out of cancer!  Canines Care – Give Hope – Save Lives…Walk With Us!

                                  Sunday May 06, 2012

Being on an American Cancer Society Bark For Life team is an amazing experience, and this year my dogs and I have made a commitment to fight against cancer by taking part in the American Cancer Society Bark For Life.

Bark For Life is a dog walk event that gives dog owners (and the dogs that love them!) an opportunity to come together to raise funds to help the American Cancer Society save lives and create a world with less cancer and more birthdays.

At the event, we'll walk with our dogs and people from around the community as a unified force in the fight against cancer. After the walk, there will be other fun things such as demonstrations, food, and games.  *** Please note:  you don’t have to have one of our dogs or even a dog at all to join our team.  All that is required is your desire to help the American Cancer Society save lives.

The walk is Sunday May 6, 2012 at Rockland Community College.  Start time is 9am rain or shine.  This will be my 17th year doing the Bark For Life walk.  This is the one and only time of the year that I will ever ask for your help.  If you have any questions please feel free to call me: 845-224-9170.

I know that you care about finding an end to cancer, so if you would like to join me and my dogs at Bark For Life, please visit my personal page. Here you can join my team, or if you are not able to attend, you can help by making an online donation.

Whether it is through a friend, family member, the neighbor down the street, or our own personal experience, we have all been touched by cancer in some way. So please consider joining my team.

Together, we have the power to help create a world where cancer can no longer claim another year of anyone's life.

PLEASE SHARE WITH YOUR FRIENDS & FAMILY. ALL ARE WELCOME.

Thank you in advance.

You don't have to have a German Shepherd to join our team, all you need is to care and a desire to fight cancer!

So bring your best canine friend and join us for a fun-filled day starting with a walk, and then continuing with demonstrations, contests, and games.  It is a chance to make new friends and share memories.

Join us, Sunday May 6, 2012 from 8:00am - 12:00pm rain or shine for a fun filled day of events at Rockland Community College.   There's something for everyone.

Thank you for your support.

The American Cancer Society Bark For Life  at Bear Mountain, formally known as Dogswalk Against Cancer at Bear Mountain is a noncompetitive event for dogs and their owners to raise funds and awareness for the American Cancer Society's fight against cancer.  There are no maximum or minimum amounts to raise.  Those with pledges of $500.00 or more will receive the Golden Bone Award !

By supporting Bark For Life YOU can help the American Cancer Society move closer to the ultimate goal: A CURE FOR CANCER !

*I have been dedicated to walking at the Bear Mountain Bark For Life since 1998!  Bark For Life has been a personal opportunity to help create a world with less cancer, more birthdays, and to support the effort to find a cure for cancer!  Every year there are over 800 dogs and their families having a wonderful time supporting the American Cancer Society.   Bark For Life is a lot of fun for everyone.  There are numerous K9 demonstrations such as agility, police dogs, fly ball, etc.  Entertaining contests that you can watch and/or participate, vendors, a professional photographer to take a family and/or portrait of your pooch, and a complimentary doggy bag filled with goodies for your best friend are all part of the day at Bark For Life.  Bear Mountain is very scenic and beautiful.

It's amazing to think that approximately 1.5 million people will be diagnosed with cancer this year.  Somebody close to us may be one of them.

By taking part in or supporting our Bark For Life team, you are helping the American Cancer Society save lives by:

  • Helping people stay well by helping them take steps to prevent cancer or detect it early, when it is most treatable
  • Helping people get well by being in their corner around the clock to guide them through every step of their cancer experience
  • Finding cures by funding groundbreaking research that helps us understand cancer's causes, determine how best to prevent it, and discover new ways to cure it!
  • Fighting back by working with law makers to pass laws to defeat cancer and by rallying communities worldwide to join the fight

Please support our efforts by making a donation to our campaign, or by joining my Bark For Life team. Together we have the power to help create a world where cancer can no longer claim another moment of anyone's life!
